What we do

Everything an advice firm needs from an accountant, in one place, run to a timetable rather than assembled in a rush after the year end.

The regular work

Bookkeeping

We take it on, or you keep it and we review it. Either way it stays current, because management accounts built on stale bookkeeping are just a slower way of guessing.

Management accounts

Monthly or quarterly, with commentary rather than a bare set of figures. What changed, what it means, and what to do about it before the year end closes off the options.

Annual accounts and corporation tax

Prepared, filed at Companies House and HMRC, and explained. No surprises in them, because the numbers have been in front of you all year.

Payroll and pensions

Directors and staff, PAYE, auto-enrolment and the submissions that go with them. Run on time, every month.

Personal tax returns

Yours, and your spouse's or fellow directors' where it makes sense to look at them together. The company and the personal position are one decision, not two.

VAT

Returns prepared and filed where you are registered, including the partial exemption position that catches out firms with a mix of advice and intermediation income.

Company secretarial

Confirmation statements, share transactions, changes of officer. The administrative record kept straight, which matters more than it sounds when someone eventually does due diligence on you.

Built into how we work, not charged as an extra

Income analysis. Initial and ongoing income separated, split by adviser and by provider, and reconciled to your practice management system as well as to the accounts. It is the difference between knowing what the firm earned and knowing what the firm is worth.

Xero. Everything runs on it, and the licence sits inside the fee rather than beside it. If you are on something else we migrate you at the start.

A capital adequacy position you can see coming. For directly authorised firms, watched from your own numbers through the year.

The advisory work

Tax planning

How you take money out, what the company pays into a pension, what the timing should be. Reviewed while there is still a decision to make rather than reported after there isn't.

Structure

Whether the company you have is the company you need. Share classes, holding structures, bringing in another adviser, taking one out.

Planning for the exit

What a buyer looks at, what it is worth doing about it, and how long each thing takes. Some of it cannot be started late, which is the whole reason to talk early.

A finance director, part time

For firms that need the conversation more often than the accounts require. A named person, agreed reporting, and someone to think out loud with before a decision rather than after it.

What we don't do

We are accountants and tax advisers, not financial advisers. We do not give investment advice, we are not authorised to, and we would not want to. You are the expert in that. We also do not audit, so if your firm reaches the point of needing one we will tell you and help you find the right people.

Not sure which of this you actually need?

That is what the first call is for. We will look at where the firm is now and tell you what is worth doing, in what order, including the parts you can do yourself.
